Documentary & Discussion: The Librarians
At Screen 417 Thursday, April 23 at 6:30
When Texas lawmakers seek to review a list of books in public libraries, a national battle begins. Across the U.S., librarians face the impact of uniting against library collection standards that include restrictions on race-related and LGBTQIA+ content. Drawing on historical context, The Librarians explores the broader implications for education and public life.
Join us to view this important documentary about the pressures exerted on public libraries.
Your hosts are Sherre Harrington and Leanne Cook, along with sponsor Indie Lens Pop up.
Sherre has had a long and distinguished career in libraries, including Amherst College and Vanderbilt University. In 2009 Sherre joined Berry College as Library Director, and now she is Berry's Library Director Emerita.
Special thanks to Screen 417 for providing the location for this film and discussion.
